Congratulations: Words of Wisdom for the Trotters in Training

Dear Trinity Trotters,

You all did an excellent job today.  You will have officially finished the pre-training NEXT Saturday and are ready to tackle a marathon training schedule.  I know today was TOUGH.  I know the route was MEAN and HILLY, but you did it! 

Please Remember- Marathon training is about patience and persistence.  You will have good days and bad days.  This is not an all-or-nothing experience.  You WILL learn a lot about yourself.  Lets tackle this journey one mile at a time.  Don't look ahead to May.  Look ahead to Monday's training and then your other runs next week.  Slow and steady wins the race! 

PATIENCE is our motto!!!  Keep it up!  Training for a marathon is a life changing experience if you are KIND to yourself along the way!

I'd like to give a special "shout out" to the distance Trotters that ran 10.7 miles today (Steve, Bobby, Hope, and Lynne).  Also, a "whoot whoot" to Melissa and Bonnie for running those crazy hills on State Street today after already running miles with the Trotters in Training group!  Mike rocked his miles as always!

Parking Lot
Drive into the park.  Drive about 3/4 mile into the first parking lot on the LEFT.  Look for Hope Magnus in the parking lot!!!

Route
We are doing 4 out-and-backs inside the park.  The route is straight, hilly, and very simple.  We are basically walking from the Quail Hollow house towards the park entrance, then back to the house, then back to the entrance, and then back to the house.  I will explain thoroughly on Saturday.  You cannot get lost....don't worry.  This will be a 4 mile route.  You will not have to dodge cars or potholes.

Holy Mother of Hills!  You will hate me for this route on Saturday, but this is wonderful training for the May marathons.  Yep, we are going UP that big hill on State Street!  Coach Momma C will be out with the roaming water station.  She'll have water, energy drinks, food, and first aid supplies.

Trotters In Training Route-Great New Year's Prep Route

This route has rolling hills and will help prepare you for the Great New Year's Eve Race.  You'll hate me on Saturday, but you'll thank me on December 31st!  We will increase to a bigger hill next week!  Coach Momma C will be along the route for water, fuel, and transportation.

Our goal is to complete the time....you may or may not complete the entire route posted. You are still training by minutes and not miles. We will switch over to miles in January! CAUTION: Wear light-colored clothing, blinkers, headlamp, flashlight, or reflective gear!

We are wrapping Christmas gifts for the senior adults or physically impaired members of Trinity Church of the Nazarene.  If you'd like to have your presents wrapped, please drop them off at 2780 Canton Road around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12th.  We will have them wrapped and ready for pick up later the same evening. 

Dinner will be provided for the Trotters volunteering compliments of Mike and Melissa Hooper.

Route Details
This route was made famous, feared, and dreaded during the Cleveland Marathon training. The Trotters thought we'd never want to run this route again. Man, time sure changes things because I've received three requests to do this route again. This WILL probably be our safest route for winter training. The roads are typically pretty clear from snow. So, get used to this route and get ready to fight the hills and the wind.....January snowfall will come soon! This is a 6.5 mile out-and-back. Pick your distance runners-Figure out how far you want to run. Memorize the street where you need to stop in order to get your mileage. Tell Coach Momma C the mileage you want to run PRIOR to leaving the Magnus house. She'll make sure you have a ride back to the start.
