Blue Line Highlights

Please view the following posts for ALL
details, route information, and meeting time:

Blue Line Water Station Details
Saturday's Blue Line Route
Saturday's Blue Line Update

(Please not some changes with water stations and transportation)

Additional Details to consider

  1. If you are running on Saturday, September 5th with the Trinity Trotters kindly let me know your name and the distance you are running. You can shoot me an email, respond on the Trinity Trotters FB page, or post a comment on this blog posting. (hopemagnus@yahoo.com or 330-819-6846) We simply want to make sure we have enough supplies and have your name added to the runner roster...this helps the water station attendants make sure you've received water before moving to their next water station location. Additional details on the post below!

  2. We welcome and encourage all runners on Saturday!!!! If you are running less than 20 miles, please let Hope Magnus know prior to Saturday. Just let me know your distance and I'll work with the roaming water stations to get you back to your vehicle. You can also drop off your vehicle at your stopping point. Contact Hope Magnus (hopemagnus@yahoo.com or 330-891-6846) to find out how you can drop off your car prior to the run and get a ride to the start location before the 6:00 AM start. Additional details on the posts below!

  3. The water station helpers at miles 10, 12, and 14 will not leave their stations until all runners have been helped. Therefore, if you run an 8-9 minute mile there is a chance you will not get your water at miles 16, 17, and 19...if all the other runners have not gone through the earlier water stations!!! I HIGHLY suggest you bring a water pack, which can be placed in HAROLD BRADLEY'S vehicle at mile 14. When you get to mile 14 he will have the water pack ready for you. You can put it on and keep on running towards the finish. I'm hoping we WILL have the water stations for you, but this cannot be guaranteed. This WILL ONLY APPLY for people running 8-9 minute miles. Otherwise, you are good to go and don't need to worry about special accommodations!

OF COURSE IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND THAT DECIDES TO COME OR YOU DECIDE AT THE LAST MINUTE......THAT'S FINE!!!!
THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!
We will simply add you or your friend's name to the list on Saturday!

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Congratulations Runners!!!

You came!

It rained!

You ran!

You finished!!

Let's have a moment of silence for the

Saturday 13 Mile/Pick Your Distance Route

Location
1018 Royce Street NW
Uniontown, OH 44685

Get Lost finding Magnus House
Call Wesley Magnus @ 330-819-6727

Meet Time
5:50-5:55 AM

Run Time
Promptly @ 6:00 AM

Roaming Water Station/Transportation
Wes Magnus will serve as the roaming water station this week. Coach Momma C was going out of town, but sprained her ankle and is gimpy and stuck at home. Wes will stop at various points along the route. Run up to the car, get your water/Gu/Power Aid. If you are not running the full 13 miles, please let Wes know prior to the run. He will make arrangements to pick you up and take you back to the start location. This water station set-up is different than the blue line set-up. He will roam up and down the route. Next week in Akron..the water stations are at designated areas along the route.

Example-I want to run 10 miles. What should I do? The course is 6.5 miles out-and-back. You'll run the 6.5 miles out with the group plus the additional 3.5 miles. Once you get to the 10 mile mark, which is East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren you stop. Wes will pick you up at the 10 mile mark and take you back to the start location. The same applies for any distance under 13 miles. This ensures you don't run any portion of the course alone, you don't get lost, and you get to stay part of a group longer. Just memorize the road you need to stop at...stop at that road...get a ride.

Route Details
We are not doing a loop this week. We are so excited to have new runners joining us!! In an attempt to keep the route easy without a lot of turns...we are doing a straight shot out-and-back. This route will look familiar to some of you that have run the 18 mile out-and-back route. Again, this is a straight shot once you are on Lake O'Pines. Follow the curves of the road and keep on trotting. Enjoy some beautiful houses, farms, and rolling hills.

UPDATE: Saturday, August 29th runs starts @ 6:00 AM

Running Products of the Week: GoLite & Garmin 405

We've got two running items this week....An affordable and expensive item.

I hate carrying water. I have bought three different hydration packs and not managed to find one I can tolerate. I FOUND one FINALLY. On a whim, I purchased the GoLite Hydro Clutch. I thought holding the water in my hand would drive me nuts. Honestly, you don't even notice it!! You can buy anywhere. Zombie Runner has decent sales on this item every so often and they ship to you quickly!

The Garmin 405 is an amazing watch for those runners that want to "geek out" their running. It does everything and is smarter than some people I know!!! All the details are below. I have admired this item for one year, but could never pull the trigger. I like having anniversaries because my husband got me this watch! I've had it less than a week, only used it once, and have no idea how I've lived so long without the Garmin 405.

GoLite Hydro Clutch
Retails for $14.95
http://www.zombierunner.com/
When you’re going the distance, keep hydration at your fingertips with the HydroClutch. Sleek and simple, it features a stretch nylon bottom and collar which keep the bottle snug, reflective webbing for increased visibility and a zippered stretch air mesh pocket to hold keys, cash or gel. Holds 21 ounces.

Garmin 405
Retails for $299

Long runs, tempo runs, speed drills. You expect a lot from your body…and from your training gear. Meet Forerunner 405. This GPS-enabled sport watch tracks your training, then wirelessly sends your data to your computer. The ultimate in training technology, its sleek design features a touch bezel that lets you quickly scroll and select features on the run.
Watch Results

Loaded with serious training features, Forerunner 405 continuously monitors your time, distance, pace, calories and heart rate (when paired with heart rate monitor). Each run is stored in memory so you can review and analyze the data to see how you've improved. You can even download recorded courses to compete against previous workouts or race a Virtual Partner®. Customize Forerunner’s data screens for instant feedback while you train.

Use with Ease
Sport watch and personal trainer — Forerunner 405 gives you the best of both worlds in a sleek, stylish package. This high performance watch is easy to use and comfortable to wear when not training. Simply tap the touch bezel to change screens without fumbling for a button. Forerunner 405 comes in two color options — black or green — to fit your style.

Run, Sync, Store and Share
Once you’ve logged the miles, innovative ANT+™ wireless technology automatically transfers data to your computer when the Forerunner is in range. No cables, no hookups. The data’s just there, ready for you to analyze, categorize and share through our online community, Garmin Connect or our optional Garmin Training Center® software. You can wirelessly send workouts from your computer to Forerunner, too.

Share Wirelessly
With Forerunner 405 you can share your locations, advanced workouts and courses wirelessly with other Forerunner 405 users. Now you can send your favorite workout to your buddy to try, or compete against a friend's recorded course. Sharing data is easy. Just select “transfer” to send your information to nearby units.

Track Heart Rate
Forerunner 405 is available with or without a heart rate monitor (see the versions tab) to help you make the most out of your training. Versions with a digital heart rate monitor continuously track heart beats per minute. Train in a certain heart rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance on the same run.

Cross-Train
Take your training inside with the versatile Forerunner 405. Pair it with an optional foot pod to track your speed, distance and running cadence indoors when a GPS signal is unavailable. This new design clips onto your laces for easy removal and automatically turns on when you start moving. You can also add a speed/cadence bike sensor to track the speed and distance of your cycling workouts.

Lock Onto Satellite Signals
Forerunner 405 sports a unique design that gives the GPS antenna a better view of the sky, so it can get a stronger signal during your run. And its high-sensitivity GPS receiver provides improved tracking under trees and near tall buildings.

Blue Line Water Station Details

Water Station Attendants
Coach Momma C (Connie Bradley)
Jim Harris
Harold Bradley

Water Station Supplies
Each water station will have water, Power Aid, Strawberry Banana GU, Expresso Love GU, Clif Bars, and Swedish Fish. Feel free to bring additional items for comfort. Below I will list where each aid station is located and who is the attendant for that aid station. If you know you'll need a comfort item by a particular mileage, simply make sure you give the correct attendant the item you need in their vehicle. Example-I want a packet of Shot Bloks (you bring) around mile 17. Just see who is the water attendant for mile 17. Make sure they have your comfort item before we start running. They will give the item to you when you arrive at their water station.

First Aid Needs
Coach Momma C (Connie Bradley) will have the complete first aid kit, Vaseline, ibuprofen, blister guards, wet wipes, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, and much more!

How do the water stations work?
We have 11 water stations along the route. Below I'll indicate the mile marker and land mark for all the water stations. Run up to the vehicle. They will have the water and Power Aid ready for you. Each water station attendant has a marker and they will put your name on the water bottle for you to consume again at the next water station they are managing. The Power Aid will be distributed in small dixie cups. GU, Clif Bars, and Swedish Fish can be consumed at the car or you can take them with you for the road.

Water Stations and Transportation
This is a best case scenario for water stations. Water attendants to not move on onto the next spot until all runners have passed through their station. So, there is a chance the last 3 water stations are will not be done from their previous stations and back to miles 16, 17, and 19 in time. This is most true if you run a 8-9 minute mile. If so, you might want to place water in Harold Bradley's vehicle at mile 14 to take with you for the next several water stations IN CASE the other water stations are not back at their 16, 17, 19 mile posts!

Also, if you know you DO NOT want water at the next water station...simply send word with a runner ahead of you. They will inform the water station to check your name off the spreadsheet and they will not wait for you at the water station.

Mile 12 (Connie Bradley)

Mile 14 (Harold Bradley)

Description
This is a thirteen mile loop through downtown Hartville and rural farm country. I tried to find thirteen miles that we had never run before. You're encouraged to review the map. You'll be on Smith Kramer Road two different times....these are VERY different portions of Smith Kramer. Just make sure you turn LEFT at the first Smith Kramer sign after passing Seven Hills Country Club @ mile 5.5....and you'll be fine! The last five miles will be familiar to you.....Fortunately, you'll know how close you are to the finish! Woo hoo!

We've got some new people again this week. Woo hoo! We are keeping the route simple and the same as last week. The route is a straight shot and has minimal turns!

This 18 mile run is an 9 mile out-and-back. This is the same route as last week. You will go down Market Street for approximately 1.5 miles. You'll turn left on Lake O Pines. This is a beautiful road featuring one of Hartville's largest homes on the left before Kent Road. Enjoy the scenery and horses. Continue straight and Lake O Pines will cross over Kent Road. Keep going straight and Lake O Pines will turn into Nimishillen. You will be on this road for a VERY LONG TIME! Nimishillen will cross over Middlebranch. Keep going for miles and miles! You are going to take a beautiful jaunt through farm country. You will have some hills, but they are minimal. You're going to turn left on Ravenna Road and continue to run for under two miles. You’ll turn LEFT on 619 and run past Pegasus Farm. You’ll see the 9 mile turn around point and cone at: Marlboro Township Police Department. Turn around and take it on home. Make sure you turn RIGHT back on Ravenna Road, RIGHT back on Nimishillen and straight for a long time. Then with 1.5 miles left you’ll turn RIGHT on Market off of Lake O Pines! Enjoy!
