2010 Chicago Marathon Update



Feel like running with 45,000 other marathoners?


Well, mark your calendars. The Chicago Marathon is slated for 10-10-10!!! Registration is scheduled to open early February.

Saturday-15 Mile & Pick Your Distance Route

Route Details
Portions of this route might look familiar (Smith Kramer and Kent Road), but most of the route is brand new for all Trotters (Congress Lake Road and Swamp Road). This is a nice route and relatively flat. Enjoy!

Roaming Water Station/Transportation Vehicle
Coach Momma C will be out brining you water, food, and First Aid. Water, Power Aid, and GU is provided. If you'd like additional items for your run...feel free to bring them. Coach Momma C will put your items in the car and give them to you upon your request.

How does the transportation vehicle work?
I want to run 5 miles. What should I do? The course is an 7.5 mile out-and-back, which makes a 15 mile route. You'll run the 5 miles out with the group. Once you get to the 5 mile mark you STOP. Coach Momma C will pick you up at the 5 mile mark and take you back to the start location. The same applies for any distance under 15 miles. This ensures you don't run any portion of the course alone, you don't get lost, and you get to stay part of a group longer. Just memorize the road you need to stop at...stop at that road...get a ride. You may be in the car with Coach Momma C for awhile before she can take you back to the start. Just be patient.

Turn RIGHT out of Magnus driveway

Turn RIGHT on Market Street

Turn LEFT on Smith Kramer

Turn LEFT on Kent Road (1.5 Miles)
-This is the stop light at Smith Kramer and Kent Road

Keep STRAIGHT on Kent Road towards downtown Hartville
-Hazel (2 Miles)
-Woodbury Glen (2.5 Miles)
-Washington (3 Miles)
-Continue straight past Hartville Chocolate Factory

Kent Road becomes Prospect

Keep STRAIGHT through the light past The Pantry Restaurant
-This is the stop light where Prospect and Main Street/619 intersect
-Continue through the intersection....Prospect is now Congress Lake Road

Turn RIGHT on Swamp Road (4 Miles)
-Danbury Glenn subdivision (4.5 Miles)

Turn RIGHT on Duquette (5 Miles)
-You'll only be on Duquette for a second....then you'll turn LEFT to be on Swamp road again!

Turn LEFT on Swamp Road
-This is by K.W. Keller's Farm
-Continue straight on Swamp Road
-Mailbox 3761 (6 Miles)
-Etter Road (6.5 Miles)

You'll see a white wooden sign that says "7230 STEFFY" this is your 7.5 MILE turnaround. If you're feeling frisky continue straight to intersection of Swamp Road/Ravenna Road (8 Miles). This is by Candles Restaurant.

Saturday-First Time Trotter Loop-A-Doop Route

Goal
Today is the first day of your training. We will have a walking-only group and a run/walk group. I encourage those of you interested in running a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon to start with the run/walk group. The run/walk group will start with a 5 minute brisk walk, 5 minute slow run, 5 minute brisk walk, 5 minute slow run, FINISH!!! The walkers will walk briskly for 35 minutes.

Now, if you aren't able to run or walk the full time....DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!! The first three weeks we will determine where you're at physically and we will design the program that fits your CURRENT fitness level and move forward from YOUR PERSONAL starting point!!! Again, DON'T WORRY.....we will help you every step of the way!

Route Description
We are going to do loops around the Magnus neighborhood. We will start going one way. Complete the loop and then turn it around and go the other way. We will continue to do this until you've completed your time goal. Just follow your running or walking leader. They'll show you where you need to go! Hope Magnus will time the run/walk group. She'll tell you when to walk and when to run. Wes Magnus will time the walking group. He'll let you know when you've completed your time goal. I PROMISE the routes will be more interesting and exciting in time! Just hang in there!

Saturday Group Run and New Trotters

We are having a group run this Saturday, October 31st. The route will be posted by Thursday or Friday. This is a 15 mile or pick-your-distance course. The ROAMING WATER STATION is back and ready to serve.

The First-Time/Non-Runners will meet at 7:00 a.m. (See details below)

The Trotters planning on running 15 miles or pick-your-distance will meet at 7:25 and run promptly at 7:30 a.m.

The Trinity Trotters are starting Season 3 for any person interested in running.

This program is specially designed for first-time/non-runners. We start you off walking and gradually move you towards running. We also have a walking marathon program this time.

If you follow our program you can run a half marathon or full marathon by May. We provide you with a detailed running schedule, Saturday group runs, weekly motivations, special events, breakfasts, registration discounts, and the famous ROAMING WATER STATION!!!!
